Moorland Shuffles & Gritstone Scuffles

Moorland Shuffles & Gritstone Scuffles is a bit of a fun and diminutive title for a climbing video, which I hope is a fair indicator of the level of climbing contained within it. The youtube version should be embedded below – it will premiere shortly after LAFF.

I’ve written some more below about each of the climbs. A video can only show so much, so I’ve tried to include the kind of information I wanted to know when watching other bouldering videos from the area as a beginner.

The vast majority of my climbing is done on my own, and if you’re perhaps thinking of going outside for the first time, perhaps without anyone to guide you, reading about how someone else has had some limited success doing so might be helpful. These crags are the perfect place to start climbing safely, even if you have no one else to climb with.

First of all, here are some links to the music used in the video, by the wonderful Freyja Evelyn:

Climbing stuff:

  • LAFF Introduction – an approximation of the words I probably mumbled at LAFF in 2026.
  • The Climbs – some written details on the climbs from the video.
  • Great Videos From The Area – a selection of other videos featuring climbs from the area, many of which served as inspiration for me to both go climbing outside, and for my own film.

I’d also like to thank Matt Lighfoot, the founder of Fat Lad Climbing, who has offered to help promote the film on social media. Fat Lad have given many people their first experiences climbing outside, exactly the types of people Moorland Shuffles is aimed at.
